Install or Update MAPS on the Beta Test Server
Prepare the Test Environment and Create Backup
This is a Beta release that must be installed ONLY in a test environment. In order to prevent issues when the Beta program concludes, you should create a new server in a new test environment that will be used specifically for this Beta. This will avoid any issues that may occur when attempting to roll back to an earlier version of the software.
- To create a new MAPS installation, you will need the MAPS installer and a copy of the Beta license file provided by Evisions.
- You can clone your existing test server or clone MAPS to a different machine.
- Update the test server to be used for this beta test to MAPS 6.4 before installing the 64-bit Beta version.
Check for Updates
When you have your new (or cloned) installation, apply the Beta license and check for updates. Click the Check for Updates button in the MAPS Config to view available updates.
Important: Your Beta license is for a Beta release of MAPS 6.4. Do not update your production environment or other test environments since it will cause problems when upgrading to the official released version.
Allow Update to Complete
If you need to apply updates to the MAPS service you will be temporarily disconnected from the server:
The update process may take a few minutes to complete. Do NOT cancel the reconnection attempt or manually restart the server. You will automatically be reconnected to the server once the update has been applied.
Verify Latest Version
To ensure that you are on the most current version, continue clicking the Check for Updates button and applying the updates until no new updates are available. You should be on MAPS version 6.4, with the specific version numbers listed above. Your MAPS Beta license includes these versions.
Install the 64-bit Application File and Versions File
Refer to your Beta documentation email for instructions on where you will find these files. Download the files to a location on your server.
- From MAPS Config, select Add Application, and then navigate to the location of the new MAPS configuration tool file (MapsConfig64.mapsapplication). Select Open and allow the installation to complete.
- From MAPS Config, select Add Version, and then navigate to the location of the new MAPS server version file (mapsconfig64.cab). Select Open and wait as the files are transferred.
- Verify that the version of the 64-bit MAPS Config application is exactly the same as the version of the 32-bit MAPS Config application.
Note that you will have two versions of these files - one identified as the 32-bit version, and the new 64-bit version.
Delete the 32-bit MAPS Configuration Tool
- Locate the 32-bit MAP Server Configuration application In the list of Applications in MAPS Config,
- Select the 32-bit application and then select Delete Application.

Copy Files into the Program Files Folder on the Beta Server
The steps in this section assume that you are using the default file locations for installations.
- If you are cloning an installation from one server to another, copy the files from the Program Files(x86)\Evisions\MAPS\Service folder on the old server to the Program Files\Evisions\MAPS\Service folder on the new one.
- If you are migrating the installation on the same server, copy the files from the Program Files(x86)\Evisions\MAPS\Service folder to the Program Files\Evisions\MAPS\Service folder.
Locate the following files and copy each one to the new location for the beta testing server:
- Contents of the Custom folder in the http_files folder
- Applications folder
- Certificates folder
- Keys folder
- Mapplets folder
- Scripts folder
Do not copy the whole Service folder as this may make the system unusable.
